Nations: persecuted church
This event deeply impacted me personally and what I do in ministry. Since this event I've ministered there annually and also in countries represented here. I've never heard stories like these before but seeing the love of God transform their lives gave me a deeper revelation of the power of what Jesus did for us on the Cross. He paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Freedom is possible! I've also taken teams with me and they too were deeply impacted.
I was the speaker for a Women's Conference in Istanbul, Turkey.
I had no mapping of what to expect. I knew I was speaking each morning from Thursday to Monday and had ready what the Lord laid upon my heart to share, but what it was going to look like, I had no idea.
I fell in love with my sisters as soon as I met them! All the attendees were from countries where Christians are persecuted.
This was my very first introduction to these cultures and what women really go through in those countries. I'm still processing all I've heard and I'm filled with the compelling question "how can I make a difference".
I've had a heart for those areas and Human Trafficking for about 4 years now but this was my first "hands-on" contact. Some of these women could not even bring their Bibles due to high risk at the border leaving their countries. One lady's husband is in prison because he wanted to register their church. There are different levels of prisons, he is in one for bad criminals many miles away from home.
There was a lady who shared about Persecution and how to prepare for it and how to help one another. She showed pictures of 3 men in prison currently, which included the lady in the meeting's husband. She had a panic attack when she saw the photo. The team ministered to her and during the week I saw God was doing a deep work in her heart to the point where at the last night's talent show, she wanted to be one of the "models" in our 5min fashion show (the younger ones heard about my fashion background, and that was it, we were going to have a fashion show as part of the talent show.)
This lady made us all laugh! She's got such a sense of humor. How beautiful is the healing love of the Lord!!
I did not know if I was connecting with some of the older more conservative women but when I saw them wiping tears from their faces and receiving big hugs from them, I knew afresh that God's love can cross all cultural and age barriers. We were from different worlds but His love connected us and His love heals ALL.
My time with these women was so precious. They were so open for God to heal their hearts, many tears were shed and breakthrough came. There was much joy.
We had so much fun together, I felt like one of them.
One day before I spoke I felt the Holy Spirit showed me to step out and ask if anyone needed physical healing. God healed several women. One lady kept on saying "I've never had this happen to me", when all the pain left her ankle. Praise the Lord!!
The last day before I spoke one of the ladies said the Lord showed her to wash my feet. She missed her flight so she could do that. I was undone. Jesus so ministered to my heart when this lady washed my feet and dried it with her own hair and then anointed my feet.. words can not describe. My heart was “ruined” by His love through this precious woman.
That day the Lord showed me to lay a foundation of impartation and then pray for each one to receive impartation from the Lord. I went around with the team and God moved powerfully. His Presence was so precious, nobody wanted to leave that place.
My heart is "ruined" I've heard too much not to do something about it. I'm asking the Lord to show me what is for me to do.
Most of these women need financial support to attend this conference. The leadership asked me to be the speaker again for 2012. Join me to make a difference. All that the women received are poured out into their areas of influence back home. I already received testimony of where they've shared what they've learned with much fruit.
Many women went home to their difficult circumstances filled with the knowledge that God was with them. But continue to pray for them, for they face situations we can't even begin to imagine. Some of them are married to men, who forbid them to read their bibles; some of them are enduring severe persecution; they learned about the Father heart of God during the conference; now they have to put that into practice and daily living, as they face abusive husbands, fathers and others. Pray for the women that God will use them to bring change into their own communities, as He has done so frequently in the past.
